Taking charge of your career and living independently without someone looking after you is perhaps one of the most desired things every career woman would want to achieve. A little girl would dream of becoming a doctor, the other would wish to become a lawyer, an engineer, an architect. As these children grow up, the doctor, lawyer, engineer and the architect’s dream has become a vague vision incapable of seeing things clearly. One of the reasons is, these kinds of jobs are mostly dominated by men and women taking part is something hard for men and the society to contemplate. This ground of discrimination sounds to be very alarming but its existence can still be felt up to the present.
Discrimination is an unequal treatment to a person or group of people mainly because of prejudice about gender, age, race and religion. It is a case where one is restricted to do things out of his will and a way of hindering ability needed to be discovered and shared. There are a lot of instances where women encounter this kind of dilemma in their everyday lives. Some come upon unconsciously yet most of the time there are scenarios that are self degrading that eventually loses self confidence.

This is to give you a heads up of the things that you can do the next time you come across a very demeaning situation:

1. You are not the MAN

The famous tagline “You’re the Man” can be altered to something new. There are a lot of things a woman can and a man can’t. In the same way, women can accomplish something even without the help and presence of a man. Therefore you can say “I’m the one”.

2. It’s not always about you.

This can be a gender issue yet can also be a form of racial discrimination. People are very judgmental when it comes to the color of the skin. The Apartheid policy back then is a perfect example of preferring a white person over a black without taking into account the capabilities this person can offer. Favoring another person over the other without giving consideration is an unbecoming manner. With this, maybe it’s time to say “It’s not always about you”.

3. “I can”

There are a lot of meanings for this phrase. This is a very simple expression yet with a rather profound meaning that is both moving and striking. “I can do things without you. I can do everything. I can be somebody…” It simply stipulates that women be it from different country, religion and age can leave a mark in this world. Their contributions can never be underestimated and their mere acts should be given acknowledgement. What men can do is evenly balanced to what women can do.

There are a lot of things a woman can achieve. She can be independent, empowered, never intimidated but still manages to have a soft spot. They are definitely rare species that even a price of jewelry and all the riches in the world cannot compensate. It is in this point in time that women should step out from their comfort zones and say “I am the one, It’s not always about men and I can”.
